looking for head -v? enjoy buthead

Been looking for buthead for a while, package buthead (eh), thanks Adrian.

Too bad he has a package of its own instead of being part of, say, moreutils, or head itself, ...

Update ... it is integrated in plain old tail though, and it's even in POSIX. Amazing how things like that can stay unknown for a while. More info in comments.

At least I could help somebody
Now I'm happy that my silly attempt at rewriting "dpkg -iEO" did at least help one person.

what's the opposite of head?
The tail command can do this already: to skip the first 5 lines, use tail -n +6.

sed saves keypresses

buthead 5 == sed 1,5d
9 keypresses > 8 keypresses
and you certainly have sed installed.

we should blog more often ...

... about how we work in the small things of everyday.

It is amazing I've overlooked thus far "tail -n +LINES".

/me dpkg --purge buthead .. and I believe Adrian just did the same ;-)

sed saves keypresses
In order to beat back sed I will add a symbolic link to the package: ln -s buthead /usr/bin/bh
